Our Vision & History

Multiply Opportunities
We will find and build a future church home to better serve every age group in our church and community. We desire to be a home base for future church plants and campus launches.

Multiply Leaders
Multiply is not just about building a building, but about building up people throughout the campaign and beyond as we work together on a home base that is not limited by the restraints of rented facilities.

Multiply Disciples
History
In early 2005, Rebecca and I packed up everything we owned into a Penske truck and moved with our one-year-old daughter from South Florida to West Hartford. We left behind family, friends, and full-time vocational ministry to launch a church that nobody asked us to start in a place where nobody was waiting for us to come.
Since that time we have grown from three people to more than 700 who call Calvary their church home. Over the years, we have seen God transform lives in front of our eyes. Many people have given their lives to Jesus, been baptized, and taken all types of spiritual steps in their walk with Christ. God has multiplied us over the years in ways we never fathomed.
Since Calvary began, we have met in five portable locations and each has been an important step in our history as a church. As we look to the future, we believe it is time to have a church home we can call our own; a place where we will not be limited by the restraints of rented facilities, but only by our imagination.

FAQ
Answers to questions you may have
What is Multiply?
Our theme for 2017 and this current ministry season is multiply. The heart of multiply is an intentional effort to multiply servants, leaders, disciples and disciple-makers at Calvary Fellowship in accordance with Jesus’ great commission in Matthew 28:19-20, and in the spirit of the early church as evidenced in the book of Acts. We have also adopted multiply as the name of our capital campaign because this project allows us to multiply engagement within our current church body and because we are convinced that having our own facility will be a valuable tool to help us to multiply many new followers of Jesus for generations to come.
Should I redirect my tithe or regular giving to the multiply building campaign?
No. Your giving commitment to the Initiative should be above and beyond your regular giving.
What is a first fruits offering?
Just as the Bible refers to times when God’s people were encouraged to bring the best of the crops or herds as an offering to the Lord (Proverbs 3:9-10), First Fruits in multiply carry the same idea. We are worshipping the Lord by making a sacrificial commitment to His expanded work through multiply. First Fruits is the opportunity that we have, to bring our largest possible gift toward our identified 3-year commitment, on the same weekend. The first fruit offerings will be given along with the commitment card on Sunday, November 5 during the weekend services.
What are donor advised funds?
These are all types of assets (cash, stocks, non-liquid assets). You can setup a Giving Fund through National Christian Foundation and choose Calvary Fellowship as the recipient of these assets and receive an income tax deduction at the time of the donation. For more information, call the church office or visit www.nationalchristian.com.
What happens in the event that more or less than the outlined goals are committed?
If more than $1,500,000 is sacrificially given over the next three years then this will allow us to expand the scope of our project and/or reduce the size of our building loan debt. This would be a wonderful problem to have! If less is given then we may need to delay construction until more funds become available.
What is expected of me?
Ask questions and be informed. Most importantly, seek God. Take time to prayerfully consider what kind of sacrifice God is asking you to make. “Not equal gifts, but equal sacrifice” best describes Calvary’s understanding of Biblical stewardship. Not everyone can make a million dollar gift, but everyone can make a sacrificial one.

Explore ways to give
Gifts in kind/appreciable assets:
Transferring ownership of stocks, bonds, real estate, automobiles, etc. Tax codes are generous towards this form of giving. Giving the asset to the church, then allowing the church to sell eliminates potential capital gains taxes and can increase the after-tax proceeds, providing significant tax savings.
Income-producing assets:
Interest Income, payments from rental properties, or monies from other income-producing assets provide sources of increased giving.
Sale of assets:
Sales of major assets such as a house, car, land, or business provide sources of increased giving.
Income raises/bonuses/tax returns:
Donating raises, bonuses, and tax returns are also avenues to increased giving.
Freedom from debt:
As debt obligations are fulfilled, additional revenue may become available for increased giving.
Unique skills income/special sales:
You may have marketable hobbies or skills, which enable you to give from those profits. Or, maybe you can hold a garage sale and donate the proceeds to the multiply Campaign.
Making a commitment
Unleashing generosity
Below is an example of our giving profile based on a three-year plan. Our hearts desire is to raise $1.5 million. The chart below is an example of various giving levels over the course of three years. Everyone’s giving level will be different. What may be a sacrifice for one, is not for another, so please prayerfully consider what God will have you give to Multiply.
